Hey Karen,
I read with interest the brief reports on VEPAs involvement in the many activities happening in 2025, especially the training in COT removals. I noted the use of rebar and was wondering if the BBQ tongs were proving of any use in case we ever make it back to Vava’u and we can bring more. Also, was the PVC pipe “thing” I made of any use or was it a total loser? I ask because I have another design in mind made from PVC pipe that is much simpler to make.
Cheers,
Ray

HI Ray
Thanks for the comments, with the COTs we used the rebar as its cost effective to leave these tool with the community for further removal. We still use the BBQ tongs for the tough ones but they have gotten so expensive here. So we always appreciate when you have provided them.
The PVC model is better on SCUBA in the deeper holes but can be a bit cumbersome on snorkel.
Hoping we get to see Marta and yourself back soon to Vava’u.
Malo from all the team
